Krytelios is a dangerous mystical world, where magic runs free, great beasts wander the land and where legends are born.
One of the first regions settled was called Krylis. It is a land that is strong in magic, lush with wild life, giant evergreen forests, valleys and deadly mountains. Krylis is a harsh region that has winter almost year-round. It breeds tough, durable and strong people, for they must be to survive here. Ioslin, the Northern God, is the main deity here and he seems to have blessed this realm as his favorite. This is where the three main characters that I have designed this collection around are based. This is their story.
In the past, during the Age of Visions, the humans began to grow rebellious. Priestess and Priest began to have their own visions of power. These leaders began take their followers on personal quests to attain power and strayed from their deities. They learned how to channel the prayers of their followers into themselves, granting them some God-like powers. This angered the Gods and the gods began to have children with mortal women creating Demi-Gods. The coming of these children brought the Age of Fractured Skies. These Demi-Gods wielded magic like the world had never seen. When they went to war, for miles around you could see and feel their magic. Looking into the sky it seemed as if the sky was being torn apart. After quelling the God-Priestesses and Priests, the Demi-Gods remained to keep order. But now the Gods had a direct link to Krytelios, and their ambitions grew. Wars became perilous with the Demi-Gods at the front lines. While the demi-gods rarely killed each other, when they did their powers went back to the God that spawned her or him. The mortals did not fair so well, dying by the thousands in the wake of these battles.
Soon calamity struck the Gods. A few of their children died and their power did not go back to the Gods. At first it was just a few, then demi-gods started to die all over with none of their power going back to their patron God. It was discovered that a cult had learned how to kill the demi-gods and take the powers for themselves. The Gods rallied together and sent all the demi-gods to deal with the cult. The battle was so great that it could be seen across the sky of all Krytelios. But the cost was great, while the cult was defeated, so were all the demi-gods. From that time forth Demi-Gods were banned, though some of the Gods had grown a taste for mortal women and continued to fornicate with them. Without their children, the Gods slowly lost influence over the world. The world continued this way for many of centuries. Until the Age of Surfacing when Queen Faraday broke the ancient pact.
Krylis is one of the strongest kingdoms in all Krytelios. It is ruled with an iron first by Queen Faraday whose quest for power knows no bounds. Her armies are the most powerful in all the kingdoms and have some of the greatest Sorceresses and Wizards in the land. She made a pack with a powerful entity from the underworld that granted her amazing power, and a secret that would shock the world. This entity knew the secret to break the pact the Gods made to not bear children for a short time. With this knowledge, and her rule over Ioslin’s favorite realm, Queen Faraday was able to seduce Ioslin and nine months later without his knowledge bore his children. It seemed fate was on her side for not only did she bear the first Demi-Gods in centuries, she bore two: twin girls, Cyrena and Zaya.
For six years Cyrena and Zaya were raised in secret by Faraday and their teacher Juxion. Juxion taught them everything, from reading and history to magic and combat. They excelled at everything they did, learning all the languages of the land and all the knowledge that could be taught to them. Though that is where it stopped. They knew the techniques well but they could do no real magic. The legendary strength and quickness of the Demi-gods eluded them as well. The Queen wondered what was wrong. Were the legends false? Did their powers come to them at a certain age or did the magic used to break the Gods seal not work?
Ioslin soon found out what Queen Faraday had done and his anger shook the realm. He called to all his Temple Priestess’ around the land and soon all the kingdoms knew. They formed a great army and stormed Krylis. With all the kingdoms against Queen Faraday, they stormed through her land to her castle in a very short time. During the sack of her castle, Juxion took the girls from the castle in secret; without even the Queen knowing that he took them.
Juxion took them to a small kingdom, Hay’lada, where Ioslin’s influence was very weak. But in Har’ Zlima, a great trade city, Cyrena and Zaya were separated from Juxion. Here the girls were lost to the city, growing up on the streets, finding little jobs here and there, but mostly stealing all that they wanted. Har’ Zlima was horrible to them. When the girls were coming of age their god-like beauty began to show through. Most the time the girls could fight off any advances, except for one evening when Cyrena was alone, while Zaya was working in the trade square. A large group of men came to her small refuge and took advantage of her. Zaya coming home caught the men in mid-act. Something broke inside her and she unleashed her god-fueled fury on the men. All the men were obliterated, along with a quarter of the city. Ioslin felt the girls in that instant and his long search had ended. He sent his most powerful Priestess to retrieve the girls and bring them back to his main temple in Krylis.
Sarli was the first temple built to Ioslin. It is the headquarters for his followers. It grooms the most deadly priestess’ in all the kingdoms. Only the most powerfully gifted girls in magic and combat are sent to Sarli. It was located in the middle of a town that built up around the temple for it provided powerful protection. The town named it self Sarli, and the girls knew it well for they were never allowed to leave. Here the girls god-like powers bloomed. Now, having a direct link back to Krytelios, Ioslin could talk directly to his daughters and train them in the ways of magic. The priestess’ began the girls schooling and combat training again. While the priestess’ were nice to the girls, they were never really accepted. Some were afraid of the demi-gods, while others saw them as freaks, but most were jealous. While the priestesses had dedicated their lives to Ioslin, Cyrena and Zaya could care less for him, for their mother Faraday had taught them not to respect the gods, that power is something you take for yourself. It did not help that the girl didn’t hide this attitude. Over the years things just got worse between the sisters and the priestesses.
Near the twins seventeenth birthday, the both started to get dreams that almost seemed like visions of their mother. They kept getting worse as time went along. With this unrest and unhappiness at the temple, the twins finally decided to leave Ioslin and the temple to find their mother and a path that would change Krytelios forever.
